Focused on building and strengthening Chattanooga and Southeast Tennessee for current and future generations, Chambliss invests in the region, its people and culture through pro bono work and public service. Giving back to the community through pro bono legal representation is a cornerstone of Chambliss’ practice. Our lawyers provide pro bono legal services to elderly, abused and low-income residents of our region through Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET). Our lawyers also support a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, including those fostering downtown revitalization, education, entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship and inclusion for all.

Since Chambliss’ establishment, the firm has played a key role in the Chattanooga community. Through the years, the firm forged relationships with nonprofit organizations and community leaders to better the city. In 1946, A.W. Chambliss worked to provide a refuge for abused and neglected children who he saw coming through his court by establishing the Chambliss Shelter. Nearly 70 years later, the Chambliss Center for Children continues to be a safe haven for vulnerable youth. More recently, in 2008, the firm partnered with The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s College of Business to establish an ongoing endowment in support of a select group of high potential business students with strong academic records and civic contributions. Named in honor of John C. Stophel, the Stophel Scholars Program fosters real-world experience and network building.
