NEXTGEN commercial

In 2007, green|spaces led the way to developing buildings that did less harm with our current LEED Platinum office at 63 Main St in Chattanooga, Tennessee and 43 other LEED projects.

In 2014, we embarked on demonstrating how net zero capable homes could be built at market rate and sold at market rate and completed four NextGen Homes by 2018.

On August 9, 2022, we began the next phase as we begin developing a regenerative mixed-use commercial building a building that goes beyond doing less harm toward doing more good for the environment, the community, and the regional economy. We are following the footsteps trailblazing projects like the Bullitt Center in Seattle and the Kendeda Building in Atlanta, but before we begin we have to understand, as Bill Reed told us at our Regenerative Design Summit, that our project is not the project. The project is repairing relationships and systems that hold our community back from its full potential: relationships between communities themselves as well as relationships between communities and the ecosystem on which we rely.

We are currently analyzing sites and are open to offers that are in walkable and bikable proximity to our key partners (see landing page for more information about who our key partners are). Email michael@greenspaceschattanooga.org with details about potential sites.

REGENERATIVE DESIGN SUMMIT

To kick off the process of developing a regenerative commercial building, we hosted the 2022 Regenerative Design Summit in Chattanooga hosting renowned speakers from all over the world providing case studies and strategies to think differently about how we develop the built environment. We will be sharing recordings of their presentations soon. In the meantime, please check out the program below. Thank you to the Kendeda Fund and the Lyndhurst Foundation for their support of the Summit and this project.
