Since 2007, green|spaces has been helping people be the change they want to see in the Chattanooga region. We raise the ceiling and the floor of sustainability, providing knowledge and resources to people who want to be better stewards of the environment and ensuring that the people who need the benefits of sustainability the most receive them.
Hundreds of elementary, middle, and high school students in the Chattanooga Region now have hands-on experience in one of the fastest growing industries in the state and the world: electric vehicles. Come to the fall or spring race and watch them put science, technology, engineering, art, and math to work to make their cars go the distance.
BIG Graduates learn how to build high performance homes, and high performance lives. Some have gone into carpentry, painting, insulation, youth mentorship, community organizing, and some have even started their own businesses. They all have a stronger sense of how they can build the home, the neighborhood, and the world they want to live in.
Attendees at our Empower workshops learn simple, low-cost and no-cost ways to make their homes healthier and more affordable to live in. From sealing gaps and cracks around windows and doors to changing out old light bulbs for LEDs, the average attendee saves 5% on their electric bill with some saving substantially more.
