green|spaces' mission is to advance the sustainability of living, working, and building in Chattanooga and the surrounding region. Our donors and members support this mission through award-winning, innovative programs and our storefront resource center. Our programs all work toward the triple bottom line which includes environmental, social, and economic sustainability and we align our programs with the key components of our mission: Living, Working, and Building.
Empower Chattanooga teaches residents low cost and no cost ways to reduce their utility bill. Empower views energy use and affordability of utilities as having a direct affect on quality of life in Chattanooga.
What would you do with an extra $40 per month? The utility bill doesn't have to be an out of control expense. Our basic energy efficiency workshops teach renters and homeowners easy changes to make that add up to big savings. That extra money can now go to other expenses like groceries, school supplies, or medicine.

We view energy efficiency as only part of a complex puzzle. We have community action and advisory groups in each neighborhood we work within to help lead community efforts on the ground, everything from park clean up's to outdoor movie nights. We believe that building stronger communities plays a vital role in making a better Chattanooga.
Empower Chattanooga is an outreach and education program in disadvantaged neighborhoods that focuses on affordability of utilities and how it relates to broader challenges to quality of life in those neighborhoods.
green|light is a local green business certification program that promotes best practices to green your routine and promote a culture of sustainability to save money and resources, attract and retain talent, and be recognized for being more sustainable.
The NextGen Homes are a demonstration development of single family homes that produce as much energy as they consume (net zero), protect and promote the health of their occupants, conserve energy, water, and materials, and do all of this with a market-rate budget.
