Investors have seen their ability to invest their values evolve over the past twenty years. Socially responsible investing has morphed into the more complex ESG construct of a environmental, social and governance platform allowing investors to build specialized portfolios. The more innovative managers have moved beyond screens and now embed up front ESG principles in the analytical process. Engagement with companies is broad and can range from activism to consultative dialogue. As ESG investing has matured, the investor no longer has to give up performance.
